[Letters] 1859 Aug. 25-27, Richmond to [John Albert Broadus] / W.D. Colquitt & Co. 1859.

Aug. 21. Advised Broadus concerning the shipment of the family furniture from Richmond, Va. to Charleston, S.C. via "the good John Wm. F. Triplett. She will sail about the last of next week or first of the week after." Explained how to mark the furniture "to the care of the house you wish to consign to in Charlestown, of course putting on it the name of final consignee. If you will let us know what day the furniture will be in Richmond, we will go to the depot and give instructions in regard to having it put on board vessel." Aug. 27. Answering his inquiry, they advised him to ship his "whole shipment at one time," and asked if he wished to pay the freight "here or in Charleston." Broadus was moving from Charlottesville, Va. to Greenville, S.C. to become one of the first professors in the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
